Ho ho ho it’s nearly Christmas and that means it’s that time of year when you desperately try to tempt the man in red into landing his sleigh on your roof, whilst being careful his reindeers don’t dislodge any of your roof tiles and descends the chimney!
But you need to ask yourself this, Is your chimney ready for Mr Christmas and his big bag of gifts?
Mine is, so hopefully that means that big bag of gifts includes a PS5 with my name on.
Chimneys have been used for centuries to ventilate buildings and to help with preventing the build-up of harmful gases inside your home. In addition to ventilating a building, they can also be used to help control the temperature inside by providing a way for hot air to escape. This can be especially important in colder climates where a chimney can help to keep a building warm.
That’s what your chimney does during the year but when it comes to the Christmas season, many people will go mad and decorate their chimneys with festive decorations, like hanging garlands, wreaths, or other decorative item, or even stringing lights around the outside of the chimney. Some people even place Santa Claus figures or other holiday-themed decorations on or near the chimney. Essentially, we’re all out there screaming for attention and doing anything we can to tempt the bearded gift giver down our chimney on Christmas Eve!
But all the flirting and peacocking you’re doing won’t mean a single thing if your chimney is in a poor state. Trust me, Santa won’t look twice at your roof if he gets a sniff your chimney isn’t in good and healthy working order.
As we mentioned chimneys serve a real purpose in ensuring your home clear of noxious gases, if that isn’t enough to make sure your chimney is regularly inspected, cleaned, and kept safe, then imagine if Santa doesn’t come down your chimney because its unsafe!!!
You come down in the morning in your pyjamas with excited kids who have woken you at 5am. Only to discover the whisky on the side is untouched and there are no presents under the tree. Now the kids are crying and all because you failed to get your chimney checked!
There’ll be no turkey for you, or a vegan alternative if that’s what you prefer.
Worse still, your badly maintained chimney kills or maims the main man as he drops in.
In conclusion, the chimney is an important part of many homes during the Christmas season, both for its role in ventilating the home but also as an easy access for Mr C to enter your house and bring joy to everyone.
Why not take it is important to ensure that the chimney is in good working order so can all enjoy the festive season.
So, on a final note I’ll leave you with a little Christmas joke…Why does Santa come down the chimney? Because it ‘soot’s’ him!
Get it?
Suits…Soot’s!
Like soot in a chimney.
I’ll get my coat.
