Is Your Chimney Ready For Santa Claus?

Ho ho ho it’s nearly Christmas and that means it’s that time of year when you desperately try to tempt the man in red into landing his sleigh on your roof, whilst being careful his reindeers don’t dislodge any of your roof tiles and descends the chimney!

But you need to ask yourself this, Is your chimney ready for Mr Christmas and his big bag of gifts?

Mine is, so hopefully that means that big bag of gifts includes a PS5 with my name on.

For centuries, people have used chimneys to ventilate buildings and prevent harmful gases from building up inside the home. Chimneys also help control indoor temperature by allowing hot air to escape. This can be especially important in colder climates where a chimney can help to keep a building warm.

That’s what your chimney does during the year. During Christmas, many people decorate their chimneys with festive garlands or wreaths. Others add ornaments or string lights around the outside of the chimney. Some people place Santa figures or other holiday decorations on or near the chimney. Essentially, we all try to attract attention and tempt the bearded gift‑giver down our chimney on Christmas Eve.

But all the flirting and peacocking won’t matter if your chimney is in poor condition. Santa won’t admire your roof if he senses your chimney isn’t healthy or safe. Chimneys play a vital role in clearing your home of noxious gases. That alone should motivate you to keep your chimney inspected, cleaned, and safe. If that isn’t enough, imagine Santa skipping your house because the chimney is unsafe!

You come down in the morning in your pyjamas with excited kids who have woken you at 5am. Only to discover the whisky on the side is untouched and there are no presents under the tree. Now the kids are crying and all because you failed to get your chimney checked!

There’ll be no turkey for you, or a vegan alternative if that’s what you prefer.

Worse still, your badly maintained chimney kills or maims the main man as he drops in.

In conclusion, the chimney is an important part of many homes during the Christmas season, both for its role in ventilating the home but also as an easy access for Mr C to enter your house and bring joy to everyone.

Why not take it is important to ensure that the chimney is in good working order so can all enjoy the festive season.

So, on a final note I’ll leave you with a little Christmas joke…Why does Santa come down the chimney? Because it ‘soot’s’ him!

Get it?

Suits…Soot’s!

Like soot in a chimney.

I’ll get my coat.
